A TWO-DAY WORKSHOP ON HEALTH AND WELFARE OF VICTIMS

One of the sub topics to be loooked at during the workshop is DRUG ADDICTION. Just recently my daughter in a private mission University told me of some students that were expelled from the school on account use of strong drugs. They have carefully created and arranged a good space up in the roof and constantly viisit there when the urge comes, until it discovered by the school authority and the involving students were all sent home.

JUST BEFORE YOU DONATE YOUR ORGAN

As transplant surgeries increase around the world, organ trafficking is on the rise. Organ trafficking no doubt is among the most gruesome and morally reprehensible crimes.  Many more traffickers are going into it. The most worrisome thing is that very young boys and girls particularly those in the universities are lured into donation of their eggs and sperms for a trifling sum. Most donors are not aware of the health implications associated with it. There is usually complications after being exposed to high doses hormones needed for harvesting of ovarian egg/Sperm especially for money.

ORGAN TRAFFICKING

As people are gradually coming to terms with trafficking in persons, a dangerous trend in trafficking is increasingly  spreading all over the world. It is organ trafficking. Organ trafficking is the trade that involves the sell of human organs like heart, liver, kidney, human egg and sperm. People are lured to abroad with false promises and are convinced or even forced to sell their organs.

GOOD NEWS ON TRAFFICKING

It is soothing to hear that the House of Representatives of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has passed through the second reading, a bill seeking to end trafficking in persons and sale of new born babies.  The bill if passed into law would end harbouring of pregnant ladies as well as selling or attempting to sell new born babies.  The Law maker Eddie Mbadiwe is proposing a 10-year jail term for the offenders.
